Audiovisual art and VJing
Do you want to work with digital graphics and video as an art form? If you want to use technology as an artistic tool to create new experiences with sound and living pictures, this subject is for you.
The subject contains methods of design, art history, visual understanding, techniques, a.o. You will perform live with VJing, when Electronic music and Songwriting give concerts in- and outside the castle.
This is what you will learn
VJing (VEE-JAY-ing) is performance with video graphics. You create a visual dimension with screens and projections, which can accompany concerts and performances. In Audiovisual art and VJing you learn techniques and tools to be able to perform with visuals or create video installations and interactive works of art.
VJing is a small niche with a wide range of options and techniques. Engelsholm Højskole is the only place in Denmark where you can immerse yourself in VJing as a visual technique and form of art. We will be recording and editing our own videos, sample existing videos and create living graphics with 2D/3D animation programs. The main programs are the VJ program VDMX and the mapping program MadMapper.
Audiovisual art and live performances
During the course, we normally produce an audiovisual performance in real world. We project video on buildings and scenography, or we perform live with the big TV installation in the basement scene.
It is not necessary to have been working with video before to take part in the course. You don’t need prior knowledge of digital graphics, AV equipment, scene technique a.o. to participate in the course, we will teach you. On the other hand, you need to learn about many different forms of technology and artistic expressions.
Engelsholm is perfect for you if you want to make your own art projects and you want to work with others. You can find partners either in your own course or in one of the other major subjects.
The course can be preparatory if you want an education within interaction design, light design, graphics, film, TV, PR, music video, scenography or digital art. As a musician, you may be able to design visuals to your performances. If you practice fine art, you may be able to create living graphics.
Bring a computer
To be able to participate in the course you have to bring a newer computer strong enough to work with demanding video graphics. We suggest that you bring an external hard disk to store video files, which take a lot of space.
Primarily we work with Macintosh computers, as much of the software, we use, is made for Mac only. We recommend, that you bring a newer Macbook Pro or similar.
